The World’s Weirdest Birds
March 19th, 2008
By Michael Dattolo
Penguins may be about as good at flying as a baked potato-but they can swim four times faster than the fastest human swimmer in the world. For birds, penguins are odd. They don’t fly, but they are warm-blooded animals that lay eggs and have feathers, making them a type of bird. Have you ever wondered why penguins are made like they are? Why do they have that funny black and white tuxedo-like coloring? How do they survive in temperatures so cold that tennis balls can’t even bounce?

I have no imagination or drive whatsoever! I need to be constantly entertained! If someone else isn’t setting the schedule, I’m resolved to just sit around until something happens, or start stirring up some trouble!”
You would never hear anyone come right out and say that.
But the age-old expression “There’s nothing to do!” is putting across basically the same idea!
Are you bored? Do you constantly find that there is nothing to do? Saturday night comes around…Sunday…and you’re at a loss. Even weeknights, you don’t always have much homework. What can you do?
Conquering Spiritual Everest, Part One

Do you have what it takes? By Gerald Flurry
Mountain climbers are willing to risk it all for a chance to reach the summit of the world’s highest mountain. Jim Wickwire (pictured below), after conquering K2—the second highest mountain in the world, bordering on Pakistan and China—tried to climb the world’s tallest mountain, Mt. Everest. But the weather became too treacherous. He waited for a month close to the summit but had to retreat for lack of time. He said when you get up that high, you only have to make one serious misstep and you’re dead. That has happened to many climbers.
Wickwire, who co-authored Addicted to Danger with Dorothy Bullett, underscores the many dangers mountain climbers face. In his book, a man related a story about how he watched one of his best friends fall into a crevasse; this man had already broken his shoulder, so he couldn’t retrieve his friend. He just had to sit there and watch him die. He has had many friends die around him, and he keeps climbing.
