PYC Videos: “We Are PYC” by Dorm 4B
July 30th, 2008
posted by Michael Dattolo
During Philadelphia Youth Camp, each dorm produced a video for the True Education website. Some are funny, some are motivational. Some are about camp, some are not. But all of them give a short, entertaining glimpse of the teens who were here this year at summer camp. We’ll be posting all of these videos over the next two weeks. Today, we begin with Dorm 4B’s “We Are PYC.” Enjoy!
Philip’s Random Thought of the Day #1

One of PYC’s families, back during this year’s AC graduation.
Hey guys, camp is over, which means a lot of you are headed back to where you can actually log on to the site and see everything we’ve been posting! Oh the hits. Well, it was awesome having you all here for PYC; you all transform headquarters into a nuclear reactor of enthusiasm and energy when you’re here, and even though I didn’t really work camp this year I still miss you all already!
What is my random thought of the day? Well, it is this: Family is everything.
Questions and Answers: Future Career
July 29th, 2008
Question: Must we wait for God to show us what field or career to take? I took a course in high school dealing with graphic arts and lithography (printing), and I want to know if God was leading me in that direction back then, or was I going in that direction at my own will?

You have been heard! In response to the feedback given at PYC, the True Education staff has created the Jerusalem Dig category to let you know what’s going on in Jerusalem. You can expect the Jerusalem team to post articles and videos about their travels, major news events, and various other things they may encounter.
Our first post is the video we made for the PYC 2008 Work Party. It will give you a quick summary of what we’ve been doing this summer. So enjoy and be on the lookout for more videos from the 2007-2008 excavation season that we will be posting shortly!
PYC Update: Camp in 3 Minutes or Less

All 120 campers telling you about PYC, one second at a time.
Here’s our latest PYC update! It is already the final day of PYC. Tonight is the PYC awards ceremony, recognizing the most outstanding campers for their attitudes, talents and athleticism this camp. Campers have been living the PYC way of life for almost three weeks now, and they’ve got a lot to say. And we captured it all on video at last Wednesday’s work party. Let’s take a look at the tape:
Each dorm has also prepared a unique video for True Education. We’ll be posting those over the next couple weeks. Enjoy!
Armstrong Anecdotes: Fool’s Errand
July 25th, 2008
posted by Adar Kielczewski
When Herbert W. Armstrong was young, he asked a lot of questions. One time those questions got him in quite a situation.
“I must have been on one of my usual information-seeking forays, asking so many questions that ways and means had to be thought up for ridding the printers of the nuisance,” Mr. Armstrong wrote in his autobiography.
So the owner of the shop asked Mr. Armstrong to get half a pint of “pigeon milk” from the grocery store. A grocery store worker told him they were out of pigeon milk and to check the jewelry store. But—surprise, surprise—the jewelry store didn’t have it. So he was sent to the furniture store. From the furniture store, young Herbert was sent to the drug store and then after he had visited almost every other store in town, he ended up at his father’s furniture store.
Upon asking his father for pigeon milk, Mr. Armstrong Sr. explained Herbert had been sent on a “fool’s errand.”
How to Study Your Bible, Part 1!
July 24th, 2008
by Joel Hilliker
Have you actually gotten to know your Bible? I mean really gotten to know it? Or is it still sort of mysterious to you? Do you find it hard to understand? Maybe you just can’t motivate yourself to crack it open? But you know you should—and you want to. Could it be, in part, simply because you don’t know how?
You could be right on the verge. Standing on the edge of everything. About to plunge into the awesome depth that is God’s Word in print: the Holy Bible. And once you fall in love with God and studying what He says, it will amaze you how much information is packed into the Bible—immediately relevant to your life, each and every day! After all, it is the very mind of our Creator—and there is no end to the depth you can search out in it!
The basis for Philadelphia Youth Camp, Herbert W. Armstrong College, Sabbath services, holy days, our daily lives, almost everything we do, is the Bible. But direct instruction on how to actually study it is rare.
Here are some important basic principles of how to study your Bible.
Some Super Softball Sports Shots!

So last week started “Trumpet week”—which means Mr. Joel Hilliker, Mike Dattolo, Philip Nice and I were all working on various aspects of the September Trumpet. We’ve been really busy with this, camp and the work party. That was last Wednesday night, where the campers got the opportunity to see different aspects of the Work: the MPC building, talking to the guys in Jerusalem via Skype, watching a slideshow chock-full of pictures from college events, filming a skit of their own, and seeing and talking about this website. All this plus a busy life in general would be why there hasn’t been a lot of material coming up on the site in the past few days. These things are nearing their end now, however.
I came across a series of good softball shots and thought all you softball and AC and PYC fans might be interested to see a few of them, taken by our lovely photographer, Aubrey Mercado.
PYC Update: The Weekend

Campers and workers enjoy a Sabbath morning hymn sing.

Hey guys, another quick update on what’s going on here at camp. On Sabbath, there was a hymn sing and then brunch, and then Director Wayne Turgeon spoke for the sermon and a local deacon, Mr. Mark Saranga, related an awesome story about the effect the campers had on a local businessman who happened to be in the Mail Processing Center while they were there. Afterward, we all fellowshipped for a few hours and campers munched on muffins and fruit while they waited for dinner time. After dinner, it was a special video about camp and then the second dance of camp.

Camper Aimee Lowry smacks the ball as Miss Ivory Vendig, her counselor, spectates.
Hey there! Just got in from the softball diamond, where I’ve been for the first few days of PYC. I assisted Mr. Jason Cocomise, who has written more than a few articles for this blog. Wanted to let you know what it’s been like on the diamond this year, especially if you’ve never been to camp before.
